The 1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1 is one of the cars seen in 1971 spy action film “Diamonds Are Forever”, the seventh spy film in the James Bond series, stars Sean Connery. It was Tiffany’s car in Las Vegas. She picks Bond up after his escape in the Moonbuggy on 1971 red Ford Mustang Mach 1 and they are chased through the streets of Las Vegas by the police.
One of the famous film mistakes is this car driving into a narrow alley on two wheels (right side), and exiting on the left side wheels! The blunder is due to the fact, that the exit of the alley was filmed on location in Las Vegas and done by an American stunt team. Later the tilt in the alley onto two wheels was filmed in the backlot of the studio in Europe and the French stunt team was only able to do this on the right hand side wheels.
Eight Ford Mustang Mach 1 was used during filming “Diamonds Are Forever”. Two of them still exists in private collections.
