The red vehicle with orange flames and pipes onto the bonnet being run down by Toecutter and his biker gang in 1979 George Miller’s dystopian action film “Mad Max” is a 1959 Chevrolet Bel Air 4-door Sedan.
The 1959 Chevrolet Bel Air is first seen during Toecutter’s gang arrival to a small town. A couple sleeping in this car become terrified after watching the gang terrorizing the town and decide to run away. Unfortunately, their vehicle cannot outrun the biker gang and is being run down the road and destroyed. The wreckage of this vehicle later makes an appearance in The Halls Of Justice being described by one of the onlookers as “chewed up and spat out”.
