White Audi R8 e-tron (Typ 42) is a car seen in 2013 super hero film “Iron Man 3” as Tony Stark personal car. It was the third Audi car model Tony owned, which replaced his previous Audi car, the Audi R8 Spyder.
Audi originally announced the first e-tron model to be built by quattro GmbH at Neckarsulm, with a small production series beginning in late 2012. The R8 e-tron prototype was unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The prototype is based on the R8 and follows closely the original concept, with a shape reminiscent of existing V8 and V10 petrol-powered versions. Audi claims the production version of the R8 e-tron will be capable of a 0–100 km/h (62 mph) time of around 4.8 seconds, making it only 0.2 seconds slower than the R8 V8. Initial plans call for its top speed to be limited to 124 mph (200 km/h) to protect the charge of the battery. It is planned for launch in early 2012.
The production version of the Audi R8 e-tron was revealed at the 2015 at the Geneva Motor Show[49] The limited production supercar was available only in Europe in 2015 at a price of €1000000 (US$1.1 million). Fewer than 100 units were sold at the end-of-production.
The R8 e-tron was fitted with two electric motors mounted on the rear wheels delivering 456 bhp and 678 lb ft of torque. The battery pack consisted of a 92kWh T-shaped Lithium-ion battery. The e-tron could reach 0–62 miles per hour (0–100 km/h) in 3.9 seconds with a top speed of 155 miles per hour (249 km/h). The e-tron’s delivered a driving range of 450 km (280 mi). The curb weight of the car is 1780 kg
