The 1969 FORD MUSTANG is the major cars driven by John Wick (Keanu Reeves) in a 2017 neo-noir crime film John Wick: Chapter 2 directed by Chad Stahelski.
Shortly (about four days) after the events of John Wick, former assassin John Wick tracks down his stolen 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 at a chop shop owned by Abram Tarasov (Peter Stormare), brother of Viggo and uncle of Iosef. John dispatches Tarasov’s men in a violent fight that heavily damages his car. He then spares Tarasov under the auspices of “peace” and returns home. Then John gave his Mustang Aurelio (John Leguizamo) for repairs.
It is not just a car, it is John Wick’s car.
It was a Boss 429 (7.0 litre) v8 as it was discribed in Chapter 1. But too many people says that John Wick’s car is in fact a 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1. It’s hood scoop is not big enough, it has a rear spoiler either Boss has not. Also John Wick’s Ford Mustang has hood pins like a like a 1969 Mach 1. And it has not Mustang but Shelby sterling wheel.
The Ford Mustang Mach 1 is a performance oriented option package of the Ford Mustang, originally introduced by Ford in August 1968.
The 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 was originally packed a 351 cu in (5.8 L) Windsor V8 engine as standard.
Five classic Ford Mustang destroyed while shooting the film.
“In the second (film), they actually let me be in a car and drive into another car,” Reeves told the Associated Press. “I was surprised about that. They said, ‘Get in the car, drive backward and smash into that other car.’ It was funny because I hit that car so hard, I ripped the steering wheel off the steering column”.
However the crew relied on the driving talents of Reeves for most of the scenes, stunt double to perform what stunt director Darrin Prescott calls car fu, the moments when the car is used as a weapon.
The license plates of John Wick’s Ford Mustang reads as ‘XAB 235’.
